想WHY

WHY WE PACK IT FULL

If it’s coming all the way from Japan,
it should arrive full.

Picture a friend in Japan, packing a box just for you.

They wouldn’t send one lonely bag of crackers.

A pack of dorayaki, soft pancakes with a sweet red bean filling (brand photo).

They’d tuck in the sweet they grew up with.

A box of Japanese chocolates in sweet potato and chestnut flavors, an autumn edition (brand photo).

The treat that’s only in stores this season.

A small bag of konpeito sugar candy with a band printed ほんの気持ちです (brand photo).

And a little bag that says ほんの気持ちです: “just a little something.”

Then they’d keep going until the lid barely closed.

That’s the box we wanted to pack for you.
A generous helping of Japan.

箱HOW

HOW WE MAKE ROOM FOR MORE

So we send
two boxes.

One box of wagashi. One box of this season’s flavors.
One carton, one trip from Tokyo.

Our two ENISHI boxes, closed, side by side: the ivory box with gold arcs and a red ENISHI seal, and a box wrapped in this autumn’s navy paper band with maple leaves, a gold moon and white rabbits (illustration based on our real boxes).
Outside. Our two boxes, with this autumn’s paper band on the right. Illustration based on the real boxes.
Two open red boxes filled with Japanese sweets and snacks in their original wrappers (photo composite of real product photos).
Inside. This autumn’s two boxes, opened. Illustration of the real contents.
  1. 1

    A box of wagashi.

Japanese sweets chosen for the season. This autumn: petite yokan from Toraya, whose story began in Kyoto in the early 1500s, with dorayaki from Osaka’s Akanemaru and matcha milk buns.

  2. 2

A box of this season’s flavors.

Flavors that change with each season. This autumn: sweet potato, chestnut, pumpkin and grape, from makers like Fujiya and Shinjuku Nakamuraya, some sold only this season.

  3. 3

The season, on the outside too.

Each season brings its own paper band, so you feel the time of year before you lift the lid.

縁EN · THE TIE

WHAT WE REALLY SEND

Every month has a meaning.
So does every box.

Example May delivery: two open boxes of Japanese sweets and snacks on a blue cloth, with carp streamers and a folded samurai helmet for Children’s Day (photo composite of real products).
May: Children’s Day. An example delivery (illustration).

Thank you for loving Japan. We fill every box with that gratitude and the feeling of the season, so the 縁 between you and Japan keeps going.

En is the Japanese word for the ties between people: the friend you met by chance, the family that once hosted you, the little shop you keep going back to. Read another way, the same character is enishi. It’s the name on your box.

In Japan, people say an invisible red thread ties together those who are meant to meet. Ours reaches from Japan to yours.

Japan’s year is full of small occasions: koinobori, the carp streamers of May; moon-viewing in autumn; the first sunrise of the New Year. We build each month around one of them. The whole year is laid out below.

A TASTE OF JAPAN, ALL YEAR

Savory bite.
One more?
